Survivor's Guilt

In January of 2021 I was diagnosed with Hodgkins Lymphoma, went through chemotherapy treatment and have been in remission since May. This experience has altered my perception of reality forever. As an attempt to cope, I created a visual poem of my emotions/experience with survivors guilt, along with a poem I wrote quoted below.

it will never be okay
i wish i could take the pain away

just you & me to the sea

we’ll float in two little boats
over purple waves
while the moon watches over us

I’ll hold in my tears for your smile
when you’re forced to be strong

- survivors guilt

Monterey & Honey

A story about love and heartbreak told solely through visual art, paired with another poem I wrote.

no, still in love

at times you seem cold

so when i get to watch your walls crumble before me

i cry inside

i love you this way

we can pretend we're pure and lovely and all things good

i like playing pretend with you

you touch me and i get butterflies

7 years

and still

every time.

i remember exactly how i felt 7 november's ago

Infatuated & mesmerized

'I've missed you' kisses taste so much sweeter

and oh                   how I've missed you

Your smile

Tight hugs

Deep sighs

Tired eyes

The way you giggle and smirk when i say something silly

it kills me

we'll chase each other forever

you and mine and i am yours

yet we will inevitably continue on

right and wrong

person and time

M I S U N D E R S T O O D

I use to think everybody was like me.

The dissection of personalities, obsessions, vivid dreams

What does being too sensitive even mean

The spiraling thoughts

The heartbreak of my almost lover

The trauma of your broken home

I see the look in you eyes change when I describe myself as the sand at the bottom of the ocean

or how many times I've dreamt of drowning in a tsunami

I use to think we all felt this way

I don't think everyone is like me.

You think I'm crazy

For awhile I though i was too

but being crazy and misunderstood are not the same.

Sensitivity is a gift to me.

You are not responsible for what others choose to think.

Your value is not defined by the words attached to their reality.
